WHO WE ARE

One of A Kind

Established in 1961, WUFO is the only African American-owned radio station in Western New York. In 2013, WUFO was purchased by Sheila L. Brown of Vision Multi Media Group (VMMG) and True Bethel Community Development Corporation, making it WNY’s first black, female-owned station. Brown is a well-respected icon in the community and hopes to open a not-for-profit Black History Collective, the first of its kind in the country. You can visit and see how a radio station operates. WUFO has provided America with popular African American radio personalities, including Frankie Crocker, Gary Byrd, Jerry Bledsoe, Thelka McCall, Dwayne Dancer Donovan, Don Allen, Don Mullins, and many more!

Celebrating the enthusiasm and preservation of rich musical history in Western New York. As a community-driven organization, the WUFO Black Radio History Collective aims to celebrate and preserve the invaluable contributions of black radio in our society. We firmly believe in the power of preserving the invaluable contributions of black radio in our society. We firmly believe in the power of unity, awareness, and appreciation for diverse musical traditions. To support the success of this event, we kindly request your attendance and a donation of $45.

Brick Party

Our Foundation Donors can purchase a commemorative brick for $1.080.

Currently located in the WUFO Black Radio History Collective, our commemorative brick sidewalk will be composed of custom-engraved bricks that will be seen daily by Buffalo residents and Collective visitors. It is a permanent tribute to all who have helped make the WUFO Black Radio History Collective a reality
